I can’t stand how 3 of my 4 computer-based classes are using dilapidated Windows computers in ugly labs. ESPECIALLY for a class called Digital Production. I can understand if Humanities Computing and Writing for the Web don’t necessarily need fancy Macs to work with, but almost EVERY media production company known to man use Macs. Am I right here?
Anyhow, I ended up dropping Humanities Computing. It’s my earliest class [at 9:30] and I ended up showing up 10 minutes late to it yesterday morning, looking like a slacker dumb ass. It was full of PhD and grad students. I had to sit behind a pole, behind my professor, so she was talking away from me the entire time. I’m sure it was just my seating situation, but I felt totally isolated from the entire class. I kept thinking about how I really couldn’t handle 15 hours of coursework, along with my two jobs, so after class was dismissed, I went to OASIS.
Crazy. In all my years of college, I’ve never dropped a class after the first day. Even though we have a drop add period, I still feel that once you pass the first day mark, you’re stuck with it no matter what. It’s too late to try and get into another class and catch up. Still, I really didn’t need Humanities Computing, I have two other classes that will fulfill my New Media requirements, so its all good. ^_^
